Dan Rosen at NHL.com has some great sound bites from Rangers and Flyers players on the rivalry…
Brandon Prust…
“Hate is a big word, but that’s definitely a word you can use between the Rangers and Flyers. It’s so competitive that it’s always like a playoff game.”
Kimmo Timonen…
“Every time when we play the Rangers, it’s usually a tight game, 2-1 or 3-2. It’s hard-nosed, hard-forechecking games with a couple of fights in there. The goalies play well. And I’m not expecting anything else (Monday), even if we play outdoors and it’s Winter Classic. I’m expecting hard-nosed game and hard-forechecking game. Obviously it’s just a different environment for both teams.”
Meanwhile here’s Zac Rinaldo’s response to why he dislikes the Rangers so much…
“Dubinsky. He told me I was a liability on the ice and he told me I was a bad hockey player. Then the next game I asked him to fight, and he doesn’t back it up. That’s a coward move. You don’t tell someone he’s a bad hockey player and then not back anything up. That’s a coward.”
To which Dubinsky responded…
“I’ve never even heard of the guy, really. So, no need for me to say anything else besides that.”
…that’s some great smack talk by Dubi. Straight out of the Avery playbook.
Here’s video of more Flyer hate from the Rangers…
