Ranking the SEC slate for week six

Outdoor-Grilling-Tips11

There are seven different games around the SEC this weekend with six conference games being played. Let's take a look at each game and rank them from the most watchable to the least as well as ranking them from 1 (only watch if you are being paid or are an alum) to 10 (must see TV).

#24 Ole Miss (3-1, 1-1) at Auburn (3-1, 1-1), 7 PM, ESPNU

While you might not see the best quality of football in this game it should be competitive and the offenses bring a lot of intrigue. Ole Miss got shut out last week against Bama. How do they bounce back? Auburn seemed to get going in the second half against LSU two weeks ago. Can they continue that momentum? Gus Malzahn and Hugh Freeze battle it out in a match-up of former Arkansas State one-and-done head coaches and masters of the spread offensive universe. Not only should this be fun to watch but it will be a great indication of where these teams are at as we near the half-way point of the season.

Arkansas (3-2, 0-1) at #18 Florida (3-1, 2-0), 7 PM, ESPN2

This might not be the prettiest football game but it's one that brings a lot of intrigue for me. Florida has struggled to score points and Arkansas looks like they found a way to score some last week behind Alex Collins and Brandon Allen. Florida brings in one of the top two defenses in the SEC against a Bret Bielema team that's going to want to try and run the football against a solid front seven. How close is Arkansas to turning a corner back to respectability under Bielema and where does the Florida offense stand now that Tyler Murphy is the QB?

Missouri (4-0, 0-0) at Vanderbilt (3-2, 0-2), 7:30 PM

This will be Mizzou's first conference game of the season and Vandy has lost their first two and has their back against the wall. Last year, Vandy went to Missouri and beat the Tigers by four. This year Mizzou looks a little bit better and the Dores look to have slipped just a bit. This should be a close, hard fought game and it's our first real look at where Mizzou stands in the SEC in 2013.

#10 LSU (4-1, 1-1) at Mississippi State (2-2, 0-1), 7 PM, ESPN

Last year at home, LSU won by 20 against the Bulldogs. This year it looks to be around the same result but maybe the Tigers slip after a war in Athens last week. The Tigers had a lot of trouble stopping Georgia's offense last week. Will Dak Prescott give them any problems this week?

#6 Georgia (3-1, 2-0) at Tennessee (3-2, 0-1), 3:30 PM EST, CBS

These two teams have played 42 times with Georgia winning 19, Tennessee winning 21 and two ending in ties. Lately, this one has gone the way of Georgia as they've taken three straight as the Vols program has struggled. Does Georgia have a letdown after a big win over LSU last week? Can Tennessee find an offense against a very young Georgia defense? One interesting note is that an Athens brewery, Terrapin, and a Knoxville brewery, Saw Works, have come together to create a beer just for this weekend. Not many games can say that.

Kentucky (1-3, 0-1) at #13 South Carolina (3-1, 1-1), 7:30 PM

The Gamecocks are coming off of an ugly win against UCF and the Wildcats are just plain ugly (at least their offense). Is there a chance that with the loss of Connor Shaw, the Gamecocks slip up? Probably not.

Georgia State (0-4) at #1 Alabama (4-0), 12:21 PM EST, SEC Network

I hope the Panthers are getting their money worth out of this one.
