Badger football isn't the only team ranked at the University of Wisconsin at this point (yes, I know hard to believe they are even ranked, right?), so we thought it best to give you an update on just how awesome the University of Wisconsin athletic program really is at the moment.
The Wisconsin Women's soccer team lost it's opening Big Ten contest to Penn State 2-1, on the road, and dropped just 1 place in the NSCAA Poll to 14th. The Nittany Lions are the only other Big Ten team in the poll, sitting 3 spots ahead of the Badgers in 11th. Florida State sits on top of the poll with an 8-0-0 record. Wisconsin sits at 6-2-0 on the season and will be at home this weekend against the Michigan schools, taking on the Spartans on Friday night and the Wolverines on Sunday afternoon.
On the cross country circuits the Women's team fell out of the rankings last week, but were still receiving votes and could see themselves back in the next Top 30 ranking when the poll is released. The Men's team is coming off of a National Championship in 2011 and are ranked No. 1 in the country in the latest poll, receiving all 3 of the available 1st place votes.
The most interesting news in the rankings department came for the Women's Hockey team as they prepare to say hello to the LeBahn Ice Arena this season. The team enters the new era ranked 2nd in the nation by both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls for the 2012-13 season.
