The Pittsburgh Pirates have their fifth starter and it is one of their top prospects.
Following their exhibition tie with the Toronto Blue Jays, the news broke that Tyler Glasnow will be the team’s fifth starter.
Glasnow had an up and down spring as he finished with a 5.65ERA. However, he showed enough flashes of brilliance to earn the job. It appears the organization believes he will benefit more from getting more exposure at the Big League level. You can only do so much at Triple-A. A career ERA of 1.96 ERA in over 150 Triple-A innings is enough to show that he is ready for a Big League run.

I don't like it because I don't think he can be great without change-up & I worry he'll revert to not using it enough like last season

The Pittsburgh Pirates will undoubtedly use more than five pitchers this season but for now, seeing Glasnow rounding out the starting rotation is very good. I am excited to see his continued development. Judging by the mostly positive responses, so are many of you.
