The Toronto Raptors won their first playoff game since 2008, in a near must win situation, to tie the first round series at 1-1, beating the Brooklyn Nets, 100-95. DeMar DeRozan faced adversity picking up his fifth foul of the game with just over seven minutes remianing in the 4th quarter, but he came storming back and finished the game with 30 points including 10 of Toronto’s final 15 points in the game. Raptors’ Head Coach Dwane Casey made a personnel adjustment that paid off brilliantly, adding Landry Fields to the rotation. Fields played just over 17 minutes, playing excellent defense and provided the Raptors with some additional size to combat the size and length of the Nets’ players. In addition to DeRozan, Amir Johnson, Jonas Valanciunas (double-double), Kyle Lowry, Greivis Vasquez, and Patrick Patterson all finished with double digit scoring.
Turnovers were still an issue for the Toronto Raptors who actually committed two more turnovers than they did in the first game; amassing 21 in Game 2 compared to 19 in Game 1. The pivotal Game 3 is Friday night at 7pm ET in Brooklyn.
