Ravens tickets 18% above season average for Falcons game

The Baltimore Ravens opened up a can of whoop-ass in Week 6, absolutely crushing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road. For a team that hadn’t been great away from home, it was a statement game. They have a chance to make another statement in Week 7, when a suddenly desperate Atlanta Falcons squad comes to Baltimore in search of just their third win of the year. This “battle of the birds” contest carries tons of weight, as the Ravens need to keep pace with the first place Bengals in the AFC North and Atlanta needs to keep their season from unraveling for the second year in a row.

That kind of importance has this one bringing a premium for ticket prices on the secondary market. The average price of Ravens vs Atlanta Falcons tickets is currently $206.76. That is 18% above the season average for Ravens tickets at M&T Bank Stadium this year. The get-in price for the game is $70. Fans will want a little more than ticket value, though, as the Ravens seek to show they’re an elite team after a down 2013 season, rather than just another one of the middle-ground peons.

The Falcons may not make doing so easy, as Atlanta has one of the more potent passing attacks when Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are clicking. That’s potentially bad news for Baltimore, as their pass defense has largely been shaky throughout the year.

The good news for the Ravens is Atlanta can’t do two critical things: stop or establish the run. Steven Jackson has been a mere plodder for the Falcons on offense, while Atlanta has been among the league’s worst at containing the opposition’s ground game. Justin Forsett has come on strong as a quality runner for Baltimore, and after a big 100+ yard rushing day in Week 6, could be primed for a huge Week 7. It’s not all on him, though, as the Falcons also are suspect against the pass. That could mean another big day for Joe Flacco (five touchdowns in Week 6), as well as for the Ravens, overall.
