Well I guess you can say that we are now officially on the Road to the Road to WrestleMania!
The Royal Rumble go-home show continued to push current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns into the proverbial corner heading into this year’s historic rumble match. Prior to the start of the show, the announcement was made that the #1 entrant for this year’s Royal Rumble would be announced live.
Was there any doubt who it would end up being? The best, most dramatic part of the segment was watching the boss try to open the tumbler balls. A big “well-done” to Steph for having some fun with it and throwing a “McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania” reference in there.
Raw ended with a preview of the chaos that could ensue in the Rumble match. Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel started off with an expected fantastic back and forth between Jericho and Paul Heyman. From there The Beast comes down and circles the ring because, you know, that’s what beasts do.
Before Lesnar stepped in the ring, here comes Reigns from the crowd. As soon as the two are in the ring, Reigns hits Lesnar with a spear. If you are still trying to make Reigns a strong champion, which WWE is, spearing Lesnar that quick was a great way to do it. From there the rumble type chaos ensued as the League of Nations came down to the ring but were taken out by both Lesnar and Reigns.
Enter The Wyatts.
Bray and family decimate all Rumble contenders, culminated by a thorough beat-down on Lesnar from all four Wyatt members. I can, and would love to see Wyatt and Lesnar go at it at WrestleMania. Check out a post coming later today to find out out that will happen.
Not too much else for the go-home. Most of the focus was put on the Rumble match as expected, and as it should be. Three more title matches were added to the card for Sunday…
Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto for the US Title – These two have had a few solid matches as the title has gone back and forth between the two this month. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for one of the biggest shows of the year.
The New Day vs The Usos for the Tag Team Titles – I can see this match starting the show as these four can put on a match that will get the crowd going to start the night.
Charlotte vs Becky Lynch for the Divas Title – I like Becky Lynch. I think she is the most underrated cog in this Divas Revolution wheel. This has potential to be a great match…but expect daddy to help Charlotte keep the title in this one.
