We don’t know about you, but the summer is sure flying by. Maybe it’s because the World Cup continues to fuel our sporting summer, but there’s one date that still is in the front of our minds — Aug. 30. Today, we mark 71 days, a.k.a. Ray Ball, to the start of the 2014 Badger football season.

So, let’s get right in to taking a look at Ball’s time in a Badger uniform.

Ball’s Story So Far:

– 2012 Academic All-Big Ten selection

– Played in seven games for the Badgers this past season, seeing action against Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern, Tennessee Tech and UMass.

– He’s played in 17 games so far in his first two seasons as a Badger, mostly in relief as a guard.

What to Expect in 2014:

Ball has become entrenched in the two-deep for the Badgers, which will be very important this season. That’s because both Dan Voltz (center) and Dallas Lewallen (guard) have been injury prone thus far in their careers. Chances are Ball will be called on at some point this season in a sub or starting role if things continue along the current track inside the Badger offensive line. The best case scenario for Wisconsin would be seeing Ball come in as a relief in games that are out of hand, but as the Boy Scout’s say — Always Prepared.
