Ray flies with team, Pietrus not close to return

The Celtics are on their way to Minnesota and it looks like Ray Allen is getting a lot closer to playing.  He was on the team flight, which means there's a good chance he could play.  Last night, he was out at his usual time going through his usual warm ups when he made the call that he couldn't go, so it's clear he's close.

Mickael Pietrus, however, is not so close.  He's still feeling the effects of the concussion he suffered against the Sixers.

"He still has concussion symptoms and until he's asymptomatic, no headaches and no sensitivity to light, we won't even be able to test him," Ainge said. "The league has implemented new procedures once he becomes asymptotic and he's not there yet, although he is improving each day."

Danny added that the C's would know more within the next four or five days.

I think the goal here for the C's is to get Pietrus back and ready for the playoffs.  The season ends in less than a month.  If they can't even do the baseline tests in a week, there's a good chance they'll run out of season before he can make it back.

It's certainly a tough blow, basketball-wise.  The Celtics are going to have to go through a very tough 10-day stretch without a key guy off the bench.  But the way this team has been going, I'm feeling confident that they'll get the most out of what they have.  To be honest, this is the most confident I've been in this team all season long.  Let's hope that confidence a lot of us are starting to feel is rewarded.
