On February 15, 2014, running back Ray Rice, 27, was arrested for simple assault after he allegedly dragged his fiance out of an elevator in an Atlantic City casino. Although there has been many accusations of what actually occurred that night prior to Rice dragging his fiance out of an elevator, the Baltimore Ravens organization has decided to forgive and move on.

The three time Pro-Bowler has been with the Ravens organization for six years. He is currently ranked second all-time for rushing touchdowns and third for combined touchdowns in Ravens history; averaging 37 touchdowns rushing and 6 touchdowns receiving. With these phenomenal stats it’s hard to let go such a player who contributes so much to the team.  Head Coach John Harbaugh expressed his feelings about Rice’s future with the team when he said, “He will be part of our team. He’s a person of character. The thing that’s really important is to be able to support the person without condoning the action.”

Hopefully, Ray Rice can redeem himself from his horrific antics. Let’s hope his playing capabilities in the upcoming 2014 season creates a smoke screen for this particular situation so that fans can move on if they already have not. It may not be easy, but it’s worth a try.
