Pleasant Grove’s Ray Ximenez Jr. improved his professional boxing record to 3-0 after systematically dominating New Mexico’s Aaron Fernandez (1-5) over four rounds in route to a unanimous decision victory Friday night. The fight took place at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. The scores were 40-34 on all three judges’ cards as Ximenez dropped Fernandez twice over the course of the fight.
Ximenez has been impressive in his fledging professional career as he has showcased some of the trademark speed that made him a household name in the North Texas amateur boxing scene.
Another North Texas resident appeared on the same card but was met with a completely different outcome.
Denton-based Pedro Dominguez (2-2) was stopped in the opening round of his bout with Abraham Esquivel (4-1). Esquivel ended the fight in dramatic fashion, dropping Dominguez with a right hook to the body that Dominguez was unable to recover from. The official time of the stoppage was 0:48 in round one.
