Last night, the Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Wild Card game. Tonight, the Rays beat the Indians in the American League Wild Card game.

This game was scoreless until the top of the third inning when Delmon “Delmonater” Young crushed a solo home run to left field, to give the Rays a 1-0 lead. This score held until the bottom of the fourth inning, when Desmond Jennings hit a two RBI double to left, to give the Rays a 3-0 lead.

The starting pitcher for the Indians, Danny Salazar, only lasted four innings. He gave up three earned runs in those four innings. On the other hand, the starting pitcher for the Rays, Alex Cobb, threw 6.2 scoreless innings. Cobb gave up eight hits in these 6.2 innings, but somehow managed to keep the Indians off the scoreboard.

The scoring came to a stop until the top of the 9th inning when Yunel Escobar singled to right field, to drive Ben Zobrist in. The Rays were then up 4-0, and that would end up being the final score of the game. The Rays will now move on to the American League Division Series, against the Boston Red Sox.
