It was reported yesterday that in an effort to add to their bullpen…the Rays among “several other teams” have expressed interest in Manny Delcarmen.
He struggled with injuries in 2009 and 2010…and when he was sent packing in 2010, I can remember Theo remarking that trading MDC was an easy decision to make, especially since he was bypassed in development by the likes of Felix Doubront. MDC moved on to the Rockies…and struggled there as well. He was non-tendered by the Rockies this off season and became a free agent.
I’ve always had a soft spot for MDC. Yes, I love the Pride of Hyde Park…even when he was driving me crazy with giving up runs and not getting outs. I was disappointed to see him traded out of town last year…and yes, he was wildly inconsistent…however, when he was good…he was real good. And as an MDC fan, I don’t wanna see him wearing a TB on his cap. However…I’ve also heard that many TB fans don’t want him to wear a TB cap either.
