If I gave as much effort in this recap as the C’s did in this game, I’d be halfway done with it by now. This game started off poorly, and by halftime, it was a disgusting mess.
Then it got bad.
The score isn’t a great indicator, but this is the worst the Celtics have looked all season.

The Celtics gave up three dunks in the first five minutes of the game thanks to sloppy turnovers. At the half, the Warriors had taken 55 shots (thanks, in part, to 12 C’s turnovers) and shot 49%. The Celtics, meanwhile, shot 36% on just 36 shots. The second half was unwatchable.
Louis Corbett, the New Zealand kid who’s number one wish before he went blind was to go to a Celtics game in person, was treated to this monstrosity. If I was the coach (and thankfully, I’m not), I’d let the guys know after the game that people moved heaven and earth so a kid going blind could watch the Celtics live, and this was the shitty memory they’d etched into his brain.
“Fuck your millions of dollars you assholes… live with that thought.”
The Green
The Celtics scrubs won the 4th quarter by 10 to cut the final score to 20. That’s about all the positive I can take out of this game.
The Gross
At one point in the third quarter, the Warriors had 46 points in the paint to the Celtics 44 overall points. As Jay said, you’ve really got to put a lot of effort into letting a team score more points in the paint than you have overall that late in the game. That’s how gross the defensive effort was.
Jermaine O’Neal was instrumental in keying the beginning of this blowout in the 2nd quarter. Yeah, that Jermaine O’Neal. WTF got into him?
Jermaine O’Neal recently discovered he’s allergic to eggs. Said it was a reason for some swelling. So yes, blame eggs for rough C’s career.

I’d like to announce that I’m moving to Oakland to throw hard-boiled eggs at Jermaine O’Neal for the rest of the season out of spite. You know, we could have used this you a couple of years ago, Jermaine.
The Greenlights
The Grid
- The Celtics had 22 turnovers leading to 24 GSW points.
- Golden State took 98 shots. Boston took 76.
- Kelly Olynyk: 19 points (6-12 fg, 3-6 3pt, 4-4 ft), 5 reb, 3 ast.
- Rondo: 14 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds.
- Rondo tied his career high for three’s made in a season (17) tonight.
Let’s just forget tonight happened, OK?
Sorry Louis.
