Recap: Celtics end preseason with home loss

Despite some nice play early on, and a promising burst at the beginning of the 2nd half, the C’s were inconsistent this evening. They fall at home to Philly 88-79. Turnovers were once again a problem as the Celtics had 7 of them before the end of the 1st quarter. The offense looked a bit out of sorts, but blame that on another night of mix & match lineups. Pierce & KG both struggled, going a combined 5 of 19 in 32 & 23 minutes respectively.

Celtics went into halftime down 51-41, and then came out of the locker room on fire, as usual. They started the 3rd quarter with a 12-2 run, to go up 55-53 with 7:35 left in the quarter. But the turnovers continued to be costly, and Philly battled back to go up 66-62 after 3. As Sean Grande put it, “climb up the mountain, fall back down..climb up the mountain, fall back down…..”

The 4th was an ugly quarter, as the C’s sat the starters for most of it and mustered only 17 points-most of them in garbage time. The Sixers went on a 14-1 run at the 10:00 min. mark behind Nick Young and that was all she wrote.

Jeff Green once again dunked, blocked & impressed. He finished with 12 points, 4 blocks & 10 boards in 34 minutes. Rajon also tallied a double-double, putting in 12 pts to go with 10 assists. Dorell Wright led Philly and all-scorers with 20, and the Sixers bench had a whopping 52 points. The C’s ended-up with 20 turnovers and shot 2 of 10 from beyond the arc.

Welp..the next time you folks read a recap here at Red’s Army, it will be on October 30th- Opening Night in Miami. I think I can speak for all of us when I say I cannot wait…!
