Recap: Celtics get mauled by Anthony Davis in most exciting loss of the season

In one of the more entertaining games of this lost season, the Celtics lost to the Pelicans, 121-120 in OT. Despite all the wild plays in the final minute of regulation, my heart rate barely moved. I can’t help it, but I’m rooting for this team to lose… out.

Anthony Davis is f-ing awesome. The kid dropped a career high 40 points and 21 rebounds in 48 minutes. If either Jabari Parker, Joel Embiid or Andrew Wiggins is anywhere close to Davis, we’ll be set for the next 12 years. Oh yeah, provided we get a top 3 pick in the lottery.

The Green

Jeff Green had a season high 39 points on 12-23 FG.

Kris Humphries treated us to another double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds) and one improbable shot (see below).

The Gross

Rajon Rondo dished 14 assists and hauled in 8 rebounds, but he shot a miserable 3-14. RR is shooting less than 30% in his last three games.

Avery Bradley’s inability to dribble with the game on the line:

The Anthony Davis jumper we thought was the game-winner. Not a “Greenlight” but a helluva shot.

The Grid:

  • The Celtics scored 64 points in the 1st half
  • Jerryd Bayless was a team low -17
  • The last two players to drop 40 point/20 rebound games against Boston are Shaquille O’Neal (2003) and Mike Gminski (1986)
