This game was a cold reminder of just how bad the Celtics can be. Aside from an energetic 1st quarter, the Celtics never challenged the Bucks, a team missing 3 key players and losers of 11 straight games. The final score: MIL 92 BOS 85.
The game was lost on the perimeter. OJ Mayo (22 points) and Brandon Knight (20 points) torched the Celtics top-ranked perimeter defense.
The C’s had a significant size advantage over Milwaukee, yet refused to consistently pound the ball inside. Even Brad Stevens, who pushes his guys to shoot threes, admitted they may have been too content with the 3-ball.
The Green
The 1st quarter. the Celtics bucked their trend of lethargic starts and raced out to a 27-14 lead. Unfortunately, they didn’t come close to matching that level of play for the rest of the game.
Jared Sullinger cranked out 21 points and 14 rebounds in 33 minutes.
The Gross
The 3-point line. The Celtics shot a dismal 21% (4-19) and allowed Milwaukee to shoot 47% (8-17).
Avery Bradley fouled out of his 3rd game. He’s tied for the league lead.
