Recap: Celtics take the Warriors to the wire

When Jae Crowder’s 3-pointer rimmed out with about 4 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, something rare happened. I jumped up off my couch and stood up during a Celtics game (an impressive feat considering the amount of wine and beer I had consumed). I think it’s been about 2 years since that’s happened.

Yes, the Celtics lost to the Warriors, 106-101, and blew a 26-point first half lead in the process. But these guys scraped and fought and played their heart out against one of the league’s best team.

The play of the game belongs to Andre Iguodala who – after losing the dribble – drove to the hoop for a lay-in that put GS up 102-99 with 26 seconds left.

Green

The 1st half was glorious. The Celtics put up 38 points int he 1st quarter and led 65-49 at the break. They had 1 turnover. One.

Isaiah Thomas (20 points, 8-21 FG) had a 6 minute stretch where he scored 13 points on 5-7 FG.

How about Brandon Bass’ 3rd quarter? 10 points, 6 rebounds in 12 minutes.

Credit to Marcus Smart and Avery Bradley for their defense on Klay Thompson (9-23 FG, 2-10 3 FG).

Gross

Isaiah Thomas was 2-10 in the 2nd half.

The Celtics were outscored 31-15 in the 4th quarter.

Steph Curry had 37 points on 14-22 FG. There was no defending him tonight.
