Recap: Feisty C's fizzle late against Pacers

Led by the gritty play of Kris Humphries and Rajon Rondo, the Celtics put forth a damn good effort tonight against the league’s best team. But the Pacers made the plays down the stretch and won it, 102-97.

This game turned with about 4 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. Rondo (12 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds, 1 tech) banked home a 25-footer at the shot clock buzzer to give the Celtics a 93-90 lead. Unfortunately, the replay showed that Rondo did not get the shot off in time. The officials had to wait a few minutes before reviewing the play and removing the 3 points from the scoreboard. The league needs to change this rule or alter the review process for the 4th quarter.

Jared Sullinger returned after missing more than a week with a minor concussion. He had 10 points on 4-12 FG in 25 minutes.

The Green:

Kris Humphries had 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and countless hustle plays. If he’s willing to take a 66% pay cut, I’d love to have him back in Boston next season.

Jeff Green led the Celtics with 27 points in 43 minutes.

The Gross:

Aside from Sullinger, the Celtics got next to nothing from their bench. Then again, their bench tonight consisted of Chris Johnson (3 points), Chris Babb (0 points), Joel Anthony (0 points) and Phil Pressey (0 points).
