RECAP: Golden State Warriors 123, Houston Rockets 101 – Andrew Bogut Out With Broken Nose

ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — This a continuation of the first half recap of the Houston Rockets at the Golden State Warriors preseason game.

Andrew Bogut was diagnosed with a broken nose and would not return to the game.

3rd Quarter

After an 82-point first half, Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton went with training camp invitees Ian Clark at the point guard, Chris Babb at shooting guard, Brandon Rush (who started the game in place of the injured Harrison Barnes), Jason Thompson at power forward, and Festus Ezeli at center.

Here are some highlights/lowlights:

  • Stephen Curry made a technical free throw to start the second half after Corey Brewer picked up a technical foul at the end of the first half.
  • Clark made an impressive move to the hoop.
  • Thompson made a nice post-up fade-away.
  • Juwan Staten checked in with 2:33 remaining and the Warriors up, 103-70.
  • James McAdoo reached 0-for-7 from the free throw line.
  • The Warriors took a 105-77 lead into the final frame.

    4th Quarter

    Highlights:

    • Bogut didn’t look bothered by his broken nose. He was chatting to teammates while Curry sat with a towel over his head.
    • Thompson had a nice block at the rim.
    • Jarell Eddie got an and-one, then Babb a block.

    The Warriors won by the score of 123-101. Curry’s 19 points (18 before the technical) led the way, to go along with 6 assists, in 18 minutes of play. Klay Thompson had 16 points in 17 minutes, Marreese Speights had 12 points in 17 minutes, and Ezeli added 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 blocks in 22 minutes.

    Rush tallied 12 points on 4-for-8 field, 2-for-5 downtown, and 5 rebounds in a team-leading 27 minutes.

    KJ McDaniels led the depleted Rockets with 20 points.

    The Warriors travel to San Diego to face the Los Angeles Lakers in two nights.
