ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — This is a continuation of the halftime recap of the Golden State Warriors

Curry’s was especially egregious as there were four Pistons back on defense in transition:

Then the #BlackFalcon flew in for a one-hand smash after Marcus Morris missed and Curry got the rebound. It was Steph’s 5th assist.

However, Detroit counter-punched with their own 7-0 run and, but Curry drew another foul from beyond the arc and canned all three free throws to put the Warriors up by 14, 74-60, with 3:33 to play.

Still, the Pistons hung in there once again as Stanley Johnson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit consecutive triples, withstanding a double-tip-in by Andrew Bogut after Curry couldn’t connect on a floater, a finger roll in the lane by Bogut, and nice drive by Steph again.

On the last possession, Reggie Jackson managed to get by Shaun Livingston’s pesky defense and got a finger roll at the buzzer over the fly-swatting Bogut.

The Warriors held just a slim 80-76 lead entering the final frame.

4th Quarter – Bench Unit Atones

After a stalemate that lasted over two minutes, Andre Iguodala sparked the second unit with a slam dunk on a steal caused by a steal by Livingston on Steve Blake.

The bench unit then went on a 10-0 run that included a Barbosa catch-and-launch triple from the left wing and Barbosa and Livingston swarming Blake at the halfcourt sideline, resulting in a lefty dunk by Livingston that rattled in versus heavy traffic.

That gave Golden State a 92-78 lead with 7:15 remaining.

The Warriors kept the Pistons in check henceforth, with the following highlights:

  • Harrison Barnes soared in for a layup after Jackson missed a three, Bogut corralled the rebound, and outlet to Barbosa,

  • Bogut drew a loose ball offensive rebounding foul on Andre Drummond, who was all of a sudden up to 10 points and 12 rebounds after tallying just 6 points and 5 rebounds at the half.
  • Curry made a cross dribble to set himself up for a three and swished it through. Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy didn’t like the screen Draymond Green set, and drew a technical foul from the ref, who gave Van Gundy “The Hand” as if to say, “Shut up, I’m not hearing any of it.”
  • Green got a floater to bang in in the paint after Detroit sagged off, which put a nail in the Pistons’ coffin, 104-86, with just 3:18 to go.
  • After a Johnson fastbreak and-one, Green missed a shot but got his own miss in traffic and with the Pistons sucked in to defend the rim, somehow found Thompson wide open on the left wing for a three-pointer that swished through. That was the death knell for Detroit, putting the Dubs up, 107-92, with 1:31 left.

The Warriors eventually won, 109-95, as Klay led all scorers with 24 points on 10-for-17 field, 4-for-7 downtown, while Curry added 22 points with 3 treys and 5 assists.

Barbosa tallied 10 points off the bench, Bogut had 8 points, 9 rebounds also off the bench, and Iguodala poured in 13 points in his Sixth Man role.

Barnes collected 12 points, and Green 6 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Both Jackson and Johnson had 20 for the Pistons and Drummond finished with 14 points, 15 rebounds.

The Warriors will now travel to Memphis to face the Grizzlies in two nights.
