Recap: Lazy, disjointed Celtics throttled by Brooklyn

Well, that sucked.

A lethargic, half-hearted Celtics squad let the lowly Brooklyn Nets walk all over them tonight. The C’s finally woke up late in the 3rd quarter, but they just couldn’t make enough plays down the stretch. Brook Lopez (23 points, 10 rebounds) torched every Boston big thrown his way. That vaunted Boston defense allowed the Nets to shoot 50% and score 111 points, 15 more than their season average.

It’s pretty obvious the Celtics are not good enough to sleepwalk to victories, even against teams as bad as Brooklyn.

Green

Avery Bradley (27 points, 7-14 3 FG, 2 steals) and Isaiah Thomas (27 points, 6 assists) carried the load offensively.

Gross

Celtics bigs were awful, especially Amir Johnson (-17) and David Lee (-10). They combined for 2 points and 2 rebounds in 25 minutes. Jae Crowder and Jonas Jerebko also had noteworthy stretches of awfulness.

How bad was the Celtics defense? Andrea Bargnani had 10 12 points on 6-9 FG.

The Celtics trailed by 8 when Jae Crowder nailed this 3, only to have the worst ref in the history of the league call an offensive foul.

In a sea of ugly, this was a beautiful block by Avery Bradley on the much bigger Thaddeus Young.
