Recap: My eyes, my eyes!!!

That one hurt… like a pencil shaving in the eye. The Celtics lost to Orlando, 93-91, in a game that could have easily been a victory.

With ten seconds remaining, Rajon Rondo found Jeff Green who drove baseline around a double-team and kicked the ball to Avery Bradley.  AB was unable to catch the pass clean and then awkwardly drove the lane and passed to no one as time expired. Yup, final possession with the game on the line and we were unable to get a shot. Game, set, match, pain.

Rondo had 6 points (3-10 FG), 4 6 rebounds, 4 assists in 21 minutes. He had a nice lob to Jeff Green and nailed a pair of mid-range jumpers in the 4th quarter.

Jerryd Bayless left the game with a sprained big toe. No word yet on his status.

The Green:

Kris Humphries had 18 points (8-15 FG), 12 rebounds and 2 blocks in 29 minutes. He’s playing so well lately that Mike Gorman and Cedric Maxwell suggested the Celtics should try to retain him. I agree. He’s tough, aggressive and a professional. I wouldn’t pay him $12 million per season tho.

The Gross:

The Celtics offense was bad (36% FG, 23% 3 FG) but rather than call out anyone in particular, I will rip on the officiating. With 30 seconds remaining and the game tied, Orlando was granted a time-out during a loose ball scrum in which it was obvious they did not have possession. This was one of the worst calls in the history of the league. My reaction at the time:

Greenlights:

Rondo alley oop to Jeff Green

The Grid:

  • Gerald Wallace took 1 shot in 19 minutes
  • Celtics bench was a combined -31
  • Glen Davis had 17 points and 7 rebounds for Orlando
