182412164_Celtics_Nuggets_Ellwood_124The Celtics managed to put up 98 points in Denver tonight. Unfortunately their opposition dropped 129. In a game where Jared Sullinger was whistled for flagrant one fouls on back-to-back plays, the C’s looked lost, frustrated & disinterested-especially on the defensive end. The Nuggets had 40 points in the paint, most of them uncontested dunks.

Denver shot 51% from the floor and outscored Boston in every quarter. Randy Foye had a season-high 23 points, including 7 treys and Kenneth Faried had 21 and 13 rebounds. The Celtics could not keep up with Denver’s aggressive barrage of three-pointers as the Nuggets connected on 14 of 31 from downtown. Denver had 6 players in double figures and led by as many as 32 when a Faried three-point play put them up 94-62 w/4:21 left in the 3rd quarter. 129-98 was your final, as the Celts drop their 5th straight and fall to 13-22. Jeff Green’s 17 points led Boston.

The Gross:

  • Celts shot 4 of 18 from trey (22%) and 35 of 91 overall from the floor. The game was already over, but they only mustered 20 points in the 4th and shot 0 of 6 from downtown.
  • The defense in this game was at times atrocious. Celts gave up season high 129 points. Jordan Crawford post game:

Gerald Wallace was back on his soap box after tonight’s miserable loss. I’m sure there will be plenty on his quotes in tomorrow’s Dump. But here’s a sample via the Globe’s Baxter Holmes:
