Recap: Scott Foster powers Cavs to win over Cs

NBA: Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers

NBA: Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers

There are plenty of reasons the Celtics lost 120-103 to the Cavaliers tonight (3 quarters of poor defense, missed free throws, rebounding differential, 2nd chance points) but none bigger than the officiating.

It was ATROCIOUS. Yes, I’m talking about you Scott Foster. You arrogant jerk.

There was a sequence in the 3rd quarter where Marcus Smart was hit with a technical foul after he subtly questioned the lack of a whistle on a play where he was hammered. Within the next minute, Smart was whistled for a phantom foul on LeBron James where the replay conclusively showed no-contact. It was a deliberate act of retribution by this crooked officiating team.

There were at least a handful of egregious officiating errors that benefited Cleveland in the 3rd quarter. At one point, Boston had 8 more fouls than Cleveland (19-11). But if you check the final box score, you’ll notice this slimy crew made sure to even things up in garbage time.

The Celtics got strong games from Isaiah Thomas (27 points) and Jared Sullinger (17 points, 13 rebounds), but the bench really fell flat tonight. Let’s forget about this one and enjoy some highlights.
