Recap: Sullinger’s career night leads Celtics over Kings

Make it three straight wins for the Celtics. Even without Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley, the Celtics had enough to beat the Kings, 99-89.

How much fun was it watching Jared Sullinger go toe-to-toe with DeMarcus Cousins? Each dropped 31 points and 16 rebounds. The big difference was that Cousins (13 points in 1st) started strong, while Sullinger finished strong (14 points, 5 rebounds in 4th). These guys couldn’t be more different. Cousins is long, naturally athletic and flat-out smooth, while Sullinger is a crafty, dirty-work kind of guy. I’d love to see a personal rivalry develop between these guys.

Rondo sat out with “general soreness” and Bradley rested his right ankle.

The Green:

Gerald Wallace (8 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals in 40 minutes) had his best game in a Celtics uniform.

Kelly Olynyk (11 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) must have had a Red Bull before tip-off.

Jerryd Bayless had 19 points (4-5 3 FG). He also got into a small scrap with Isaiah Thomas that resulted in double-technical fouls.

The Gross:

Jeff Green needed 20 shots to score 17 points. Brandon Bass was 1-8 and a team high -11.
