RECAP: Warriors (30-5) Go Binge-Splashing, Crush Utah Jazz, 116-105

This is a continuation of the halftime recap of the Golden State Warriors at the Utah Jazz.

3RD QUARTER: 3 > 2

The Warriors took halftime to heat up for some flame-throwing, getting out to an 18-6 run as Golden State, after an and-one alley-oop by Andrew Bogut to start things off, rained three-pointers on the Jazz, courtesy of Stephen Curry, Harrison Barnes, Curry again, and Draymond Green.

The one by Green, before Jazz head coach Quin Snyder was forced to call timeout to stem the tide at 73-61 with 8:12 to play in the period, featured a nice “no-look” feed by Curry:

But out of the timeout, Utah ran off seven straight points as Gordon Hayward blocked a Barnes dunk after Curry found him somehow through traffic.

The Warriors weren’t done from downtown, though, as Klay Thompson got into the act and Green drilled another trey. After another timeout, Barnes got a backdoor dunk out of the “ATO” (“after-timeout” play).

Curry then took Jazz rookie Dante Exum to school:

To top things off, Marreese Speights got a three-pointer from the deep right elbow, Curry’s 11th assist, as the quarter buzzer sounded, giving Golden State a 44-point quarter on 8-for-10 combined downtown.

Curry was up to 27 points, 11 assists, having scored 15 points and tallied 4 assists in the third quarter alone. Green had 15 points and Barnes and Thompson added 12 apiece.

Hayward and Derrick Favors had 17 apiece and Enes Kanter added 13 points, 10 rebounds.

But the quarter was all Warriors, as epitomized by Green’s celebration:

4TH QUARTER: Barbosa And Holiday Mop Up As Sdot Rests

With the stars taking a break to start the fourth frame, Leandro Barbosa took over point duties and played alongside Justin Holiday, Andre Iguodala, David Lee, and Bogut.

Barbosa was solid again, leaking out, darting around, and generally getting attempts at the rim.

Iguodala had a beautiful crossover to finish with this slam that put the Warriors up, 103-83, with 9:45 to play:

Lee got a dunk, then Lee posted up, attacked to the paint with his strong left-hand, faded, and dumped a pass down to Bogut for an easy slam.

Justin Holiday got his 4th steal of the game and Iguodala was probably a bit too unselfish trying to reward him with a layup after that, passing up a wide-open layup to feed it to a cutting Holiday, and Jazz forward was the only one back, took a near-blind swipe at the ball and blocked Holiday out of bounds.

But Holiday still got a three-pointer in rhythm off of a weakside screen, then hit a couple free throws.

The Warriors closed out with Speights in for Bogut. Center Ognjen Kuzmic was with the Santa Cruz Warriors on assignment and Golden State head coach Steve Kerr decided not to play Brandon Rush, and sat Shaun Livingston.

The Dubs got 32 assists on 46 made field goals and the starters shot a blistering 30-for-46 from the field, or 65.2%.

Curry, Thompson, Green, and Barnes all sat the fourth quarter, led by Curry’s 27-and-11.

For the Jazz, Favors led with 22 points, 11 rebounds and Rudy Gobert had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots off the bench as six Utah players scored in double-figures, but the Warriors’ three-point barrage in the third quarter was just too much for the young Jazz.

The Warriors (30-5) fly home tonight to face the Miami Heat at Oracle Arena tomorrow night.
