ORACLE ARENA, OAKLAND, CA — This is a continuation of the halftime recap of the Washington Wizards at the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors had a 52-49 lead heading into the third quarter.

3RD QUARTER: No Field Goals Allowed Until 1:01 Remaining

Both teams would have their poor shooting percentages continue, but the Wizards were totally anemic while the Warriors’ power forward Draymond Green got things started with a swish from the top, assisted by a Stephen Curry drop pass. Golden State had an early 57-49 lead with 10:16 to play.

Washington hadn’t scored yet, with misses from the perimeter by Nene Hilario, Bradley Beal, and Paul Pierce, and the trend would continue. The Wizards would miss 14 straight shot attempts and tallied just 5 made free throws before Kevin Seraphin made a turnaround jump hook that trickled in after hitting the front rim with 1:01 remaining.

By then, the Warriors led 77-56.

Klay Thompson made a nice step-back jumper on an up-fake and Andrew Bogut retrieved a loose ball in the paint, pivoted, and missed a shot-put, but tapped in the putback with his left hand.

Then Curry made a pull-up trey in transition after a Beal miss on a pick-and-roll with Marcin Gortat, Bogut got a two-handed putback jam after Leandro Barbosa beat Beal on a “hesi” and a drive into the lane…

…and David Lee ran high screen action with Curry and fed Steph another triple.

Wizards head coach Randy Wittman called timeout with 3:09 to play in the third and the Warriors up big, 71-51, but out of the timeout, John Wall‘s jumper went off rim and Curry went high pick-and-roll, with Bogut shaking Steph free for a long trey from the right elbow over Seraphin, as Oracle chanted, “MVP!”

Golden State ended the quarter with a swish from downtown by Andre Iguodala and a bucket inside on a cut by Marreese Speights, fed by Curry, and took an 81-57 lead into the final frame.

Curry led the way with 24 points on 8-for-14 field, 5-for-8 downtown, along with 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Green tallied 13 points, 5-for-11 shooting, 3-for-8 beyond the arc, and 6 rebounds. Speights added 10 points off the bench.

Meanwhile, Wall was the only Wizard in double-digits, with 11 points (all scored in the first quarter), 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Nene and Gortat collected 7 boards apiece.

4TH QUARTER: Mop-Up

It was another “ho-hum” fourth stanza for the Warriors as the bench unit allowed the starters to rest for the entire fourth quarter. Lee had a couple of nice baskets with a running lefty bankshot, then Shaun Livingston drove by Lee and went with a behind-the-head assist for an easy layup for Lee.

Wittman called another timeout with 10:01 to play and Golden State up, 85-57, but things wouldn’t change much.

Brandon Rush got another bucket on consecutive nights as he drilled a three after Iguodala found Speights inside and Speights made a nice inside move to force the Washington defense to collapse.

Iguodala made a corner trey from the right side then afterwards took a seat at the 5:37 mark as Justin Holiday came in to join Livingston, Rush, Lee, and Ezeli for the remaining garbage time.

Lee had a long jumper go airball, to which Green reacted to Lee with a “joking serious face”.

Holiday had a “360” dunk after stealing the ball from Toure Murry, who was injured on the play and left the game.
