5/17/10 – CIN 6 MIL 3 – Tied at 1 through 6, the Reds score 5 off Todd Coffey in the 7th, and a Brewers’ 9th inning rally comes up short.
5/18/10 – CIN 5 MIL 4 – Trevor Hoffman fails to record an out in his 5th blown save of the season, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits. It would prove to be the game that cost Hoffman his job as the closer.
7/26/10 – MIL 3 CIN 2 – Bronson Arroyo only allowed 3 hits in 8 innings, but a solo HR by Jim Edmonds in the 8th allowed the Brewers to sneak through with a win.
7/27/10 – CIN 12 MIL 4 – Yovani Gallardo is shellacked for 6 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits in 2.2 innings, and Chris Capuano gives up 4 more runs in 3 innings of relief.
7/28/10 – CIN 10 MIL 2 – The Brewers led 2-0 after 5 innings, but Cincy puts up a 5 spot in the 6th and another in the 8th. Kameron Loe was charged with blowing the lead, but Carlos Villanueva’s 8th inning (4 hits, 5 ER, 2 HR) didn’t help.
8/30/10 – CIN 5 MIL 4 (10 innings) – A short start by Randy Wolf taxed the bullpen, and left Trevor Hoffman on the mound in extra innings. Hoffman was able to get two outs before Jay Bruce won the game with a single through the hole between SS and 3B.
8/31/10 – CIN 8 MIL 4 – Gallardo’s rough second half of the season continued with another beatdown by the Reds. Yo gave up 8 earned runs in 5+ innings, but the final numbers look worse because he left runners on base for Manny Parra, who allowed the inherited runners to score. The Brewers were able to chase Aaron Harang after only 4 innings, but managed to score only 3 runs off him despite 8 hits and 3 walks.
9/1/10 – CIN 6 MIL 1 – The Brewers held a 1-0 lead through 6 innings thanks to an impressive start by Chris Narveson (6.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K), but Ken Macha again made the mistake of letting Todd Coffey pitch in Milwaukee — Coffey gave up 3 runs without recording an out, giving way to Mike McClendon, who gave up 2 more runs before getting an out. Aroldis Chapman made his major league debut, getting the Brewers on SportsCenter for flailing at pitches they couldn’t see.
9/20/10 – CIN 5 MIL 2 – The bullpen wastes another unexpectedly solid start, this time from Chris Capuano (6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K). The Brewers had the score tied at 2 heading into the 8th inning, but Loe surrenedered back-to-back home runs to Joey Votto and Scott Rolen in his second inning of work.
9/21/10 – CIN 4 MIL 3 – Edinson Volquez limited the Brewers to 1 run on 3 hits through 8 innings, but Milwaukee was able to mount a comeback in the 9th against Francisco Cordero. Casey McGehee was standing on third base as the tying run, but Cordero struck Carlos Gomez out swinging to end the game.
9/22/10 – MIL 13 CIN 1 – A season’s worth of frustrations were taken out on Johnny Cueto, who only lasted 1.1 innings, surrendering 8 runs. The Brewers were able to tack on three more runs against Aaron Harang, and two more for good measure against Sam LeCure. Wolf limited the Reds to just 1 run on 4 hits through 6 innings.
10/1/10 – MIL 4 CIN 3 (11 innings) – A McGehee RBI single in the 11th inning and John Axford’s 24th save gave the Brewers back-to-back wins over the playoff-bound Reds.
10/2/10 – CIN 7 MIL 4 – The Reds pounded out 17 hits — 10 against Capuano in his 3.2-inning start — and Homer Bailey struck out 10 Brewers despite only throwing 5 innings.
10/3/10 – CIN 3 MIL 2 – The Reds took a 4th-inning lead in the season finale, and the Brewers only managed 3 hits after that point to end a disappointing season.
3/31/11 – CIN 7 MIL 6 – The Brewers were the better team through 8.5 innings, but John Axford couldn’t control his pitches in the 9th inning, and the Reds scored 4 in the 9th to steal a win.
4/2/11 – CIN 4 MIL 2 – Shaun Marcum made his Brewers debut and couldn’t find the strikezone (it didn’t help that no one seemed to know where the strikezone was). Marcum rebounded after allowing 4 runs in the first two innings, but that proved to be too much for the Brewers to overcome.
4/3/11 – CIN 12 MIL 3 – The score was tied at 2 through 3 innings, but the Reds scored 10 runs in the next 4 to start the 2011 season with a sweep. Randy Wolf was the second starter in as many days to struggle with his control, while Bronson Arroyo managed to shut down a Brewers offense that had sputtered since Opening Day.
4/25/11 – CIN 9 MIL 5 – Chris Narveson continued his regression to the mean after a hot start, giving up 7 runs on 8 hits in just 2.1 IP, apparently pitching with a head cold. The bullpen was solid until Sergio Mitre gave up two more runs in the 9th, and a Ryan Braun HR in the 9th made the score look closer than it really was.
