Well, at least it’s over.
The Brewers finished their 10-game, 10-day, felt-like-20-day road trip at 2-8 with a 3-1 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday. Chris Narveson pitched pretty well despite running into trouble the third time through the St. Louis order, with his two earned runs coming on one of the few mistakes he made all afternoon.
Unfortunately, like with the rest of the road trip, the slightest mistake by the pitching staff was enough to take the team out of the game. The offense failed to capitalize on multiple mistakes made by Cards starter Kyle McClellan, and scored their only run on a bases-loaded infield hit by Craig Counsell in the 9th inning.
We know the offense was inept for nearly the entire road trip — they scored three runs or more just three times in the 10 games — but here’s a look at just how bad they were individually:

The Brewers now return home with their tails between their legs, and 15 of their 20 losses this year coming on the road. In a lot of ways, this is starting to become reminiscent of the 2007 team that went 51-30 at home, but 32-49 on the road. If the Brewers want to stay in the NL Central race — at 5.5 GB, they’re not out of it yet — they’re going to need to find a way to start winning these road games, especially ones inside the division.
