Penn State’s new head football coach Bill O’Brien is still a month away from signing his first recruiting class, but there might be a 2013 prospect he should add to his radar. NLD briefly caught up with Clairton (PA) WR Tyler Boyd to talk about his past season.
“It was real good. I did better than I thought I would. It may have been the best of my four seasons,” he said, referring to his junior year.
Boyd has yet to receive a verbal offer, but that might not be entirely his fault. “I talked a lot to the Pitt coaches, but they left to Arizona [State],” he said. “I got a lot of mail, maybe the most, from Penn State, but I haven’t received as much since their situation,” he added. He also mentioned that the Penn State was probably in his top five schools before Joe Paterno was fired, and that he’d like to hear from them in the future.
What is it that Boyd is looking for in his future school? “I’m looking for the best fit for me,” he said, insinuating that a school’s atmosphere will be important when he starts taking visits.
Tyler Boyd does not have any immediate plans to visit any schools. His only known measurable is a 4.5 forty.
