Recruiting Update: 2016 Heating Up

staalg

I was going to keep a recruiting update for the bye week in a few weeks, but things are getting interesting fast so let’s get to it.

Damar Hamlin

The #1 corner back in Pennsylvania released his top four schools last night. They include:

Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Pitt

The 4 star does not have a obvious leader and I believe the four schools are tied as of now. His good friend 2017 ATH Paris Ford did commit to Pitt and that may influence his choice. Hamlin visited Notre Dame last week and has planned on still visiting his other top schools before making a decision. Penn State will likely receive a visit for the white out game against Michigan.

Tre Nixon

The 4 star wide out from Florida said he would like to make a decision before the end of October. He has a top five of Georgia, Penn State, Florida, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. One of his best relationships with a coach is with Penn State receivers coach Josh Gattis, which is good news for the Lions who have Nixon as their top wide out target in the ’16 cycle. I do believe Penn State has a very high chance of landing his services.

Khaleke Hudson

The 3 star linebacker from McKeesport, Pa has a top group of West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Penn State, and Virginia Tech. He does not have a clear leader, but he does have an official visit to VT planed in November. He’s a great athlete that Penn State would love to have. Decision may not be until after the season.

Flip Season

Ahh yes, it is “Flip Season”. Michigan is giving Penn State a hard time right now with commits Quinn Nordin and Lavert Hill. Both are regularly attending Michigan games because both live there and Hill’s brother plays on Michigan. I do not think Nordin will flip, but keep an eye on Hill as things move along. Another commit would be Miles Sanders, I’m not buying into the rumor about him flipping to Pitt. He has kept his word so far and seems to be excited to play in the same backfield as Saquon Barkley. All other commits don’t seem to be interested in other schools except Ellison Jordan who has been hearing a lot from Texas lately. One of his big things was staying close to home and obviously Texas isn’t close to his home state of Maryland.

Recruiting updates will continue throughout the season and will become a weekly piece once we get closer to National Signing Day, stay tuned.
