Red Finally Beats White!

The Red Sox have had themselves a tremendous season so far, however there is one thing that they just couldn’t get done this year…beat the White Sox.  Jon Lester took the mound and hoped to put an end to that.  This was Lester’s second start since coming off the DL.

Lester was just tremendous.  He was throwing all his pitches for strikes and just dominating the White Sox lineup.  And this time, he didn’t waver as the outing went on.  Jon Lester IS BACK!  Lester threw 98 pitches, 8 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB and 8 Ks.  The only damage the White Sox could get against Lester was two solo HRs.  Konerko hit a solo HR in the 7th and Beckham hit a solo HR in the 8th.  Dan Wheeler came out in the 9th and had a nice scoreless inning to get Lester and the Red Sox the win!

The Red Sox offense came to play today!  It seemed like it might be another outing early on where the bats were gonna have a hard time with the White Sox starter, but then the Red Sox hit the 5th inning and came back to life.  Carl Crawford started the inning off with a single and then immediately stole second and got to third on a throwing error.  Salty hit a double to bring in Crawford.  Reddick got a single to get Salty over to third and then Scutaro got a sac fly to bring Salty home.  Ellsbury got a single to bring Reddick to third base and stole second.  Pedey got a sac fly to bring Reddick home.  Youk got a single to bring in Ellsbury and chased Humber from the game.  The Sox lead 4-0 by the end of the inning.

In the 8th, the Red Sox added another run with a Scutaro RBI single.  Josh Reddick made it all the home from first base, mainly because of some laziness by Alex Rios in the outfield.  In the 9th, the Red Sox kept adding on when they went to town on Brian Burney.  Gonzo and Youk went back to back with HRs.  Crawford singled and then Salty hit an RBI double to bring him home.  Scoot hit an RBI single to bring Salty home.  The Red Sox lead 10-2.

The Red Sox finally beat those pesky White Sox!  About time!
