President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski announced today that right-handed pitcher Junichi Tazawa has been removed from the 15-day disabled list and has been activated.
Tazawa was placed on the disabled list on July 14th due to a right shoulder impingement. Tazawa has made 35 relief appearances going 1-1 with a 3.62 ERA and 37 strikeouts for the sox before going on the disabled list.
To fit Tazawa back on the 25-mna roster the Sox have optioned right-handed pitcher Noe Ramirez back to Pawtucket. Ramirez made 11 relief appearances over seven small stays in Boston before returning to Pawtucket. Ramirez holds a 6.66 ERA with 11 strikeouts over 11 innings in the MLB.
As of lately, the relief pitching position has not been a big deal due to the Red Sox dominating teams. But it definitely good to have him back as it adds more depth to the bullpen that needs help at times.
