Josh Beckett looked more like a front of the rotation guy tonight as he picked up his first win of the season. He pitched seven innings and gave up nine hits with three earned runs. He had a bit of a rough time in the seventh inning and allowed the Royals to sneak back into the game but the bullpen and offense did their parts tonight.
Mike Lowell had a hit in his first game of the season. Jason Varitek had two home runs in the game, Hermida, Youk, and Pedroia also sent souveniers into the outfield seats at Kauffman Stadium. Okajima and Ramirez each pitched perfect innings to ensure the Red Sox victory. Oki got three consecutive hitters to pop up.
