Red Sox changing team logo?

Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald is reporting that the Red Sox will unveil new alternate uniforms — and a new logo as well.

It’s likely the team will reveal a
new “alternate uniform,” to either replace or supplement the red tops
the team often wears for Sunday home games.

There’s no word yet on what the new logo will look like, or
whether it will replace the existing one, which dates back decades.

Wow. Not sure how I feel about this. The MLB shop has a link to one of Boston’s throwback logos, maybe they’re going back to this or using it as an alternate? Here’s a look at the throwback logo on Nomar Garciaparra, the day his hit streak as a rookie ended, when they were wearing retro uniforms.

I have to wonder if the new Salem Red Sox logo (the Sox’s new A-ball team) ties in somewhat to the new Sox logo?

Uniwatch.com links to a leaked alternate cap logo, which you see above. Here is a history of all Red Sox logos.
