The Red Sox have claimed catcher Mike Napoli off of waivers and have until Monday to work out a deal with the Angels. Varitek is set to begin a rehab assignment soon but this could help give Lowell some time off with V-Mart playing first occasionally but it really looks like a blocking move to stop the Yankees and Rays from getting Napoli.
