Another day, another Red Sox clubhouse drama story. Today, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported that several members of the team had a meeting with ownership in July to discuss their dissatisfaction with manager Bobby Valentine
There are a couple of ways you can look at this: One is to simply think the Red Sox players should just shut up and play. Many of the high dollar players are not producing this season so they need to get their own house in order before they start throwing stones. The other way to look at is is to think that Bobby Valentine has been the wrong skipper for the Red Sox and the players have a point. The leaders and most outspoken members at the meeting were said to have been Dustin Pedroia and Adrian Gonzalez, two of the better performing players on the team and players most people respect.
We really don’t know what was said at the meeting but we do know that things are not working with the Red Sox on or off of the field. Changes have to be made either with the manager or with some of the players to right the ship. Short of that the drama will continue as it has since last September.
