For whatever reason the Red Sox cannot move past the Rays into first place. Beckett looked like the pitcher of ’07 going into the 7th before he gave up his first run. He only gave up 3 hits on the night. The Rays pitching staff gave the Sox offense all kinds of trouble tonight; Boston could only manage 5 hits and 1 run. The game went into extra frames and Masterson gave up a walk-off single to end the game in the bottom of the 9th.
