Last night the White Sox had a nice ceremony celebrating Boston and the anniversary of the Marathon before the game while wearing Boston Strong t-shirts. The two teams then got on to playing the game in the frigid cold. It was snowing earlier in the game and during the early innings some wisps of snow could be seen in the air. The Red Sox had former White Sox Jake Peavy on the mound hoping to be able to get his 1st win of the season.
Peavy said before the game that White Sox’s Adam Dunn was one of his best friends from his time with the team. Well his good friend took him yard in the 2nd inning to put the White Sox up 1-0. Peavy struggled in the 2nd inning and ended up throwing 40 pitches, but luckily the only damage was Dunn’s homerun. Peavy kept the score 0-1 until Daniel Nava was able to tie the game in the 4th inning with a solo HR of his own. Sox 1-1. Even with throwing 40 pitches in the 2nd, Peavy threw 6 strong innings and was able to keep his team in the game. Peavy’s pitching line for the night was 114 pitches, 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 4 BB and 8 Ks.
Junichi Tazawa came out and pitched a scoreless 7th inning and handed the ball over to Andrew Miller for the 8th. Miller got 2 outs in the inning before walking Dunn. Miller was replaced with Badenhop who got the 3rd out to get out of the inning. The Red Sox made a little noise in the top of the 9th, but nothing but another injury came of it. Napoli walked and then with a wild pitch he took 2nd base. Napoli slid head first into second and looked like his ring finger didn’t make the trip intact. It looked broken at the time, but the good news is that it is just dislocated. Pedroia came in to pinch run for him, but no one was able to get him home. Pedey did stay in the game at 2nd base, but he wouldn’t be in the game long. Badenhop was on the mound in the 9th and gave up a walk to De Aza, but luckily he was caught stealing 2nd base. Badenhop then gave up a single to Ramirez. With one out in the inning Badenhop was out and Capuano was in. This is where the game got frustrating. Capuano walked Eaton and then faced Semien. It looked like Capuano struck Semien out, but the umpires did not agree. Capuano then got him to ground into what looked like an out, but Bogaerts made an errant throw to 1st and Mike Carp was not able to handle it. Ramirez came home to score and the White Sox walked off with the win.
