The Red Sox announced after the game today that they have optioned right hand reliever Alfredo Aceves to AAA Pawtucket. Aceves was called into a meeting with Farrell and Cherington after the game and informed of the decision. Aceves not only had a horrible pitching performance the night before, but made some pointed comments after the game about how the Sox offense could not score any runs.
Personally, I am happy to see Aceves go. I used to be someone who supported Aceves and his craziness because the boy could pitch. He can be used in so many different ways that I felt he was worth the eccentricities. However, his comments about his teammates and the lack of run support is just too much. It's hard for the offense to score runs when you put them in a 6 run hole in the 3rd inning. Enjoy Pawtucket!
