Red Sox Photo Day at Fenway

Thursday was Red Sox Photo Day as part of Fan Appreciation Week.  I already had Friday off for the long weekend….and so I begged and pleaded with my boss to get Thursday off as well….and I got the day off and made the drive to Fenway Park in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday.

Yes, the Sox lost the game….8-9, but it was still the BEST. DAY. EVER. If you ever have the opportunity to go on Photo Day…I highly recommend it.  A bunch of the players come out onto the field and you can talk with them, shake their hands and have your pics taken with them.  I was at the game with a few awesome twitter gals.

Highlights of the day….

As a HUGE member of the Drew Crew, I could not contain my excitement when I saw JD Drew coming along through the crowd.  Seriously.  I jumped up and down…and basically behaved like a little kid when they realize that Santa Clause is at the mall.  I was even entertained at my crazed excitement.  JD came over.  I shook his hand…told him I was a member of the Drew Crew…and LOVED him.  His response, “Nice.”  I asked for a photo…..and thanks to some camera malfunction, I ended up touching JD for close to 2 minutes.  It was awesomesauce folks. Love. Love. Love.

And there is my interaction with Pedroia.  I was wearing my Laser Show, Relax t-shirt.  He came through the line…and when he came by, I smiled and shook his hand and asked for a picture.  Pedey…of course…agreed.  And, he made a point of saying that he liked my shirt.  Of course.  Laser Show.  Relax.

…finally…there is the story of Mike Cameron being the coolest, nicest, most awesome guy around.  He was making his way through the line…and really interacting with everyone.  He was telling stories, etc.  As he was a little ways down from us…I saw what looked like he was giving candy from his pocket to little kids.  Adorable.  So, when Mike came over to us…as we were talking, I said, “We’re you giving candy to kids over there?”  He smiled and pulled a bunch of gum out of his pocket.  He said, “I’ve got gum.  Regular, graps and sugar free.”  Since I am not a child, I didn’t think Mike Cameron was offering us gum…but he left his hand open.  So I coyly said, “Are you offering ‘me’ gum?”  LOL.  I choose regular.  @pinkberryoasis choose grape.  Then we took some pics…and Mike wanted to make sure the pic came out well…or he’d do another one.  Nicest guy EVER.  EVER.

If you ever get the opportunity to go to Photo Day…seriously…run…do not walk. It’s fantastic.  I know of pics of myself with Drew, Pedroia, Cameron, Lackey, Beltre, RamRam, Joe “Party in the USA” Nelson, Tek, Youk, etc.  Awesomesauce folks…awesomesauce!

P.S.  I also completely snagged a handful of Fenway Dirt off the warning track.  Yep.  I’m that person.  I was covered in Fenway dirt…and let me tell ya, I’ve never been so happy to be dirty in my whole life.
