John Lackey had a forgettable start and gave up twelve hits and four earned runs over six innings but still managed to pick up the win. Lackey was aided by Victor Martinez who went 5-5 in the game with 2 RBIs. Adrian Beltre had three hits in the game and drove in three runs. Dustin Pedroia finally showed some signs of life by picking up a hit in the game. Bill Hall has now played with the Red Sox long enough to buy into the patience at the plate philosophy and he proved it by walking three times in the game. The offense pounded the A’s bullpen for six runs on seven hits as the Sox bullpen held the A’s to just one hit over three innings.
