The Red Sox ties to the land of the rising sun have grown stronger with the addition of another Japanese Pitcher. Boston signed right-hander Terumasa Matsuo as a free agent today. When he pitched for the Kagawa Olive Guyners, Matsuo was MVP of his league and had a record 15-3 with 159 K’s and a 1.72 ERA. These stats are impressive but he was playing in the equivalent to a single A minor league in Japan. Matsuo responded to the signing by saying the following: ”It still hasn’t hit home yet but I want to try to play my best baseball.”
