The Red Sox have signed pitcher Mark Prior and plan to have him stay in Fort Myers to build up arm strength. If Prior can get his form back it will give Valentine some more options in the rotation.
In other Red Sox news, Aaron Cook will start Saturday in place of Beckett who will miss a start with some lat stiffness.
