The Red Sox have signed free agent shortstop Stephen Drew to a one-year $9.5 million contract. By signing Drew the Sox are changing courses with Jose Iglesias who was going to be the starting shortstop for 2013. Iglesisas struggled at the plate in the majors and the team is likely going to start him in AAA so he can improve his offense.
Stephen Drew is the brother of former Red Sox right fielder J.D. Drew.
