Red Sox Swept by Rays

The losing streak continued today.  More bad pitching. More bad hitting.  The Red Sox were swept in a four game series to the Rays at Fenway.  John Lackey fell victim to the general suckiness that has befallen most of the team this spring.  He only lasted 3 1/3 innings after giving up eight earned runs on nine hits.

The Red Sox offense was held to just five hits and two runs.  Hermida drove both runs in with a homer in the sixth.  Look at some of the batting averages on the team after today’s game.  Bill Hall .091, J.D. Drew .146, David Ortiz .158, Victor Martinez .212, Kevin Youkilis .217.  Ouch.

Dustin Pedroia summed up the team effort:

“When you don’t show up, you’re going to get beat, doesn’t matter if it’s the Rays or fucking Brookline High.”
