Red Sox Waste Another Quality Start by Lester

Red Sox Waste Another Quality Start by Lester

Jon Lester pitched eight strong innings today in Toronto.  He limited the Jays to three runs on three hits and two walks.  The Red Sox struggled to get anything going off of Romero and were held to one run (Ellsbury drove in Aviles in the third).

The Sox had a chance to get back in the game in the ninth when Ellsbury and Pedroia both walked.  Gonzo hit a ball deep to center allowing Ells and Pedey to tag up.  Youk came up with two runners in scoring position and no outs and proceeded to strike out.  Big Papi followed with a weak ground out to end the game.

With the loss the Red Sox now have a record of 1-5 as they head back to Fenway for their first homestand of the season.
