The Boston Red Sox came back from a 3-1 series deficit winning game 7 of the ALCS 11-2 on the backs of Daisuke Matsuzaka, Dustin Pedroia, and Kevin Youkilis.
Matsuzaka pitched for 5 innings, on six hits, two runs, no walks and three strikeouts while Pedoia knocked in five runs and Youkilis drove home two leading the offense.
A 3-2 ball game in the seventh inning Pedroia (7-13 in his last three games) broke it open with a two-run homerun into the Green Monster seats giving Boston a 5-2 lead and the Red Sox never let up as they tacked on six more runs in the eight inning.
Jonathan Papelbon completed his first career six out save on 16 pitches wrapping up the Red Sox come back in the ALCS.
“The Beast” has certainly been woken up as Boston’s lineup had 15 total hits and surprisingly the only batter in the starting lineup to not have a hit was David Ortiz.
Cleveland had their chances in this game but third base coach Joel Skinner put the breaks on when it mattered most.
