On Friday April 29th , I went to Fifth-Third Field to watch the Dayton Dragons take on the Clinton Lumberkings. Although the Dragons lost, I did see Cincinnati Reds’ starter Anthony DeSclafani pitch in a rehab game while recovering from injury. He pitched great over his five innings. DeSclafani, on the Reds disabled list with a strained oblique, threw 77 pitches although he was scheduled to throw 80-85 according to Reds Manager, Bryan Price. He allowed three hits with one walk and three strikeouts and left the game with a lead of 1-0.

DeSclafani had a solid rookie year in 2015 with 9 wins and a ERA just over 4. I feel he will build on that and have an even better sophomore season if he can stay healthy. Anthony felt great after his start saying “I felt like the ball was coming out pretty well”. He also said “I think I got a little tired there at the end, but that’s expected. I’m not too worried about that. I’ll get stronger as I keep throwing”. Although DeSclafani said he felt fine, he did feel discomfort in his side and he might not be ready for his next rehab start.
